Faroogh Sharifian was born in 1983 in Piranshahr, Iran. Having completed his primary and secondary education in his hometown, he was admitted to Urmia University (Iran) to pursue his studies in the field of Mechanical Engineering of Agricultural Machinery. He also received his MSc. degree as well as Ph. D. degree in this field of study from Urmia University. He is married and has one child. In 2013, he joined Urmia University, where he is an Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering in the Department of Biosystems located in Faculty of Agriculture. His current research interests are in the areas of drying technology, thermal processing in post-harvest engineering, and renewable energy in biosystems as well.
